Teal Tuesday: Proverbs 27:17

Teal Tuesday is back! I had a WONDERFUL vacation last week in Maine (a blog post will be up soon all about it!) with my family and Kevin. It was great to get away and relax. But now I am back which means back to Teal Tuesday and lots of great posts coming up!

This Teal Tuesday is dedicated to my best friend from college Helen LANE. She just got married and I am still getting used to her new last name! She has been a wonderful friend to me for the past 5 years. She pushes me towards Christ and loves me at my worst. I am incredibly thankful for her.

Since we are both artists, we end up giving each other gifts that are handmade every year, which is so special. For two of my birthdays in college, she gave me beautiful pieces of her original art and they are the focus of this Teal Tuesday.

The first one is a painting that Helen made for me that has Proverbs 27:17 on it:

"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

This verse really does reflect our relationship and it is what we strive for in pushing each other towards Christ. It is so true that your real friends will tell you when you are being selfish and need to step it up while also being encouraging and affirming in your strengths. Even though it hurts sometimes to have close people in your life call you out, it really does sharpen you and help you shed the darkness in your life and walk in the light.

The second piece is a screen print of a shell that Helen made when we took screen printing in college. Helen knows how much I LOVE the beach (as you can see from both pieces with the palm trees and shell) which made the gifts even more amazing. And of course they both have teal in them! She knows me so well.

In the end, I am so thankful for Helen, and every time I see these two pieces I am so thankful for her as a friend and that she sharpens me :)

Enjoy these pictures of Helen's wonderful pieces of art! She is incredibly talented :)
