It is weird to be posting our family session but I love having these photos on my blog as a digital journal. I haven't had any time to write/put pictures in a paper journal! Payton was 8 months old when we took these and her personality is perfectly captured. I know I say this all the time but it is true; this child is an undeserved gift and we are grateful for her each day.
Four years married, eight years in love. Each year gets better and better. New challenges, joys, and of course raising our first little baby together. Kevin, I have loved watching you grow into the dad role. Payton adores you and will be saying, "da da" so soon! The way you care for her and protect her makes my heart melt. I fall in love with you all over again every time I see you with her!
You may have seen James on my social media as the cute boy with the long hair that hangs out with Payton a lot (we may have started the hashtag #JandPayPay)! Payton and James were born 13 days apart and are already the best of friends just like their mommies! It has been nothing short of a gift to have a friend with a baby at the same exact stage as you.
I haven’t blogged many personal posts since having Payton because it is hard to find the time! However, I wanted to blog our family trip to Rehoboth Beach because there were too many cute pics to share. And I thought it could be helpful to share what worked or us as far as taking Payton to the beach!
I had my 6 week postpartum check up with my OBGYN yesterday and I am officially cleared to workout again! I have been itching to workout since giving birth because it is a big stress reliever for me so getting the clear was exciting. Before I was pregnant, I had a regular routine of doing CrossFit at Nevermore a few times a week.
It is always strange for us to be on the other side of the camera, but we have gotten used to it after being together for over seven years! I knew after we found out we were pregnant that Emily Gerald would be the perfect person to shoot our newborn session. She is a very talented baby + birth photographer based in Virginia and she is just the sweetest!
The past few weeks I have gone into full out "nesting" waiting for baby P to arrive in hopefully under 3 weeks! While we are waiting, I thought it would be fun to do a milk bath maternity session a few weeks before I was due since my belly would be very large. My good friend Hannah told me she would take the pictures and I was so excited!
I look forward to post this blog every year! Kevin does a great job of taking behind the scenes pictures during the wedding day. It is cool to see the environment you are in when shooting and then the final picture next to it! In 2016 we decided to move from shooting 20+ weddings to capping at 15. This was the best decision we made for our business and family because we were able to really focus on each couple and still have time for our marriage throughout the year.
Eeek!! I am so excited about these images. My talented friend Hannah Leigh Photography took our maternity photos and they are amazing! I am so thankful for our little photography network and all of the friendships that have blossomed out of meeting up together. We wanted to do a few pictures at our house with Sadie in cozy outfits before heading over to Cromwell Valley Park!
We had a hard time picking a name for our little baby girl. To have both Kevin and I agree + love the same name was tough!! We had tossed around a few names here and there but didn't really start the conversation until we found out we were having a girl. Then the fun began.
