I always knew I wanted to continue shooting maternity, newborns, and families alongside wedding photography. There is so much joy in capturing an image of a child exactly where they are at and freezing time in that moment. And it is even more fun when I am able to continue taking pictures of the same families year after year!

You may have seen these two before on my blog from their downtown Alexandria engagement session or from their beautiful DIY wedding at The Athenaeum. These two are expecting their first baby in early 2018 and they couldn't be more excited! They also have two adorable American Brittany rescue dogs that couldn't wait to be a part of the shoot.

This past January when I was 36 weeks pregnant with Payton I did a milk bath shoot with my talented friend Hannah. After the shoot, I had hopes to do one for a client someday. Jenn happened to be the beautiful pregnant mom who wanted to do a milk bath shoot and I was so excited!

This was the last shoot I did in 2016! One of Kevin's best friends from Virginia Tech is expecting another baby boy in just a few weeks. JJ is very excited to be a big brother! We took a few maternity pictures at Patapsco Valley State Park and the Bergman family embraced the cold!

We made it to the sunflower field in the last days of the flowers being in bloom. Stephanie and Kirk are expecting their second baby boy in a few weeks! Little Owen is excited to be a big brother and welcome another babe into the family.

I have never done a maternity shoot where the mom gives birth to the baby the day after the shoot!! I couldn't believe it when I saw that baby girl Peyton was born! We were so glad we were able to get the shoot in before she entered the world.

One of my best friends is having a baby!! Helen & I went to JMU together and now she is pregnant with her first baby. Helen & Thomas are going to be amazing parents to this little one. We did the maternity shoot at Occoquan Bay and found some beautiful shade to shoot in.
