I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and few days (or weeks!) off with your family and loved ones. Now that we are back to work, I am excited to announce a new series on marriage! I often talk about how much more important your marriage is than your wedding day when you are planning the big day. This may sound strange, since our business is capturing the wedding day, but let me explain.
After the vows have been spoken, all the cake is gone, and the dancing shoes are worn out, your wedding day will be over. You will have gorgeous images to re-live the day, but that one special day will come and go faster than you can imagine. But the best part of your wedding day being over is it is the beginning of your marriage! Becoming one with another soul is one of God's best gifts He gave to us on this earth. There is nothing like the intimacy, laughter, tears, memories, and vulnerability that you give and receive with that one other person. We have a heart for our couples to have marriages that last a lifetime and that takes work and investing time into each other and the relationship.
Kevin and I have been reading Francis Chan's most recent book called You and Me Forever: Marriage in Light of Eternity. We are only a few chapters in, but are already being changed through conversation and reading it together. It was through reading this book together that God gave me the idea to write a blog series on marriage. So for the next several weeks, I will be writing on different topics about marriage including finances, relationships with in-laws, dating after saying "I do", love and respect, God in marriage, intimacy, what we wish we had known our first year of marriage, and more. You might be thinking that I don't have enough experience in marriage to be writing about these things and you are right. However, through being married two years, I have already learned so much. To make it interesting, I will be interviewing a variety of people for the posts, including grandparents, friends, and past Anna Grace Photography brides! I think we can all learn from each other whether we have been married for 6 months or 45 years. God always has something to teach us. So if you just got engaged, have a family with 3 kids, or are moving into the empty nest season, stay tuned for the AGP Marriage Series!
