Jo loves the winter so she was excited to do her engagement session with Chris in December! However, it was 32 degrees and freezing outside the day we did their photos. But they were naturals behind the camera even in the cold. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next November! Chris and Joe have such a sweet relationship and the joy between them couldn’t be more evident.
We started at the Jefferson Memorial and took some photos next to the beautiful columns and by the water. Chris was so sweet and bought Jo a cozy bathrobe to wear in-between photos! After we took photos at the Jefferson, they warmed up at Eno Wine Bar in Georgetown with a glass of wine. We finished up the session taking pictures around the adorable homes in Georgetown that were decorated for Christmas. It was a wonderful session!
Here is their love story from Chris’s point of view!
I met Jo in Boston back in 2015, a few weeks after graduating from Northeastern Law School. A DC native, she had just graduated from Boston College and, over the course of the first couple dates, made it increasingly clear that an eventual move back to DC was a non-negotiable. After a few more dates and another cold Boston winter, I too was in on this plan. During those first few dates, I learned about more than just her desire to move south though. I also learned just how small of a world it can be sometimes. As it turned out I had gone to college with her brother (and his wife) and Jo had spent many times on campus visiting him. The amount of times our paths could have crossed over that four year stretch but didn’t only made us that much more sure that this time was meant to be.
And the proposal from Jo’s point of view!
After studying abroad in London during college, I bugged Chris to take a trip there for almost a year before the proposal. Every time he said "maybe after we move!" I'd sigh and agree - little did I know he'd already booked a surprise trip in April! One Saturday in early April, Chris told me we were going back to my favorite city come Monday. He had carefully gotten everyone involved (my parents, my boss, my closest friends) without telling anyone the whole picture. He knew I'd want to be the first to know! In London, he proposed at the top of the tallest building in the city, in a room overlooking the skyline with just us two. I was so excited, I responded "OBVIOUSLY" when he got down on one knee. Whoops! We spent the rest of the week exploring the city and celebrating - although I have to admit, I spent a whole lot of time looking down at my hand rather than up at the sights.
Such a sweet love story. Enjoy these images from Chris and Jo’s chilly, yet adorable engagement session!
