We met in April 2007, our first date was on 12.5.09, we got engaged on 7.18.13, and tied the knot on 11.10.13! I can't believe we have already been married for three years. Each year gets better! Through the ups and downs, I am so thankful to be going through it with you.
This year more than ever I have been challenged that marriage is more about the other person than yourself. It is about sacrifice, loving, and forgiving even when it is hard. Showing each other G R A C E U P O N G R A C E. When you work through the hard things together, your relationship gets a little bit sweeter each time. I was humbled this year through writing the marriage series and through learning from other couples how they live life with their spouse. I have a big heart for fighting for your marriage and loving each other no matter what. Celebrating each year is so important! Learning and growing together and figuring out this thing called life side by side.
I wanted to share one fun tradition we do each year in the fall to help us remember the year! Our first year of marriage we took the same picture at the same location each of the four season of that first year. We have those first four pictures on a canvas going up our stairs to remind us of the beginning of our marriage. Now, each year we take a photo in the same spot in the fall! Last year it was just us, but this year little Payton is in my tummy in the picture. I can't wait to continue it each year and look back someday at the growth each year.
It is crazy to think back to the beginning of our relationship and how far we have come since then. I love learning more about you and getting to know you in a deeper way each year. Our marriage has challenged me and brought me closer to God at the same time.
"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
- Proverbs 27:17
I can't wait for year four when we add to our family with our baby girl. God is so faithful. I can't wait to watch you be a dad and lead our family this next year! I know God is going to teach us a lot through being parents + balancing shooting weddings together. You are amazing and I love you to the moon and back. Happy Anniversary babe!
We are headed to Bethany Beach this weekend to shoot an engagement/celebrate our Anniversary/have a little baby-moon!! Cheers!
P.S. I love re-living our wedding day and the covenant we made to each other through the images. If you want to see more from November 10, 2013 check out Katelyn's post!
