Krissa & Nadav | Engaged {Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville, MD}

Krissa and Nadav are getting married in New Jersey next year and can’t wait to become husband and wife! We did their engagement session at Oregon Ridge Park and the fall colors were gorgeous. They had perfect outfits and are so sweet together!

Here is a little bit of their love story!

the first date

The smells of clay and wine fill the air on a Saturday morning as the town begins its yearly art and wine festival. Amid the crowd, standing in front of a crepe shop, stood a petite Filipina, nervously awaiting her date with a man she met online. The man, as it turns out, had passed her by several times, having little clue as to where he was supposed to meet in this new town, currently bustling with inebriated art lovers. Eventually, he looks up and sees a crepe sign, then glances down on his date. He nervously walks up to her, introduces himself as Nadav as she introduces herself as Krissa, and the awkward couple moved inside for brunch.

From brunch, came small talk. From small talk, came roaming the festival. From roaming the festival, Krissa mentioned that Ghirardelli was hosting their own chocolate festival at that very moment, at which point, Nadav suggested that the two board the next train to San Francisco to go to the chocolate festival. Krissa fought her survival instinct to flee, and agreed, figuring she knew the city well enough to ditch a potential bad date.

By the time the two reached the famous Ghirardelli Square, the tickets for the chocolate festival sold out. But Nadav was new to the West Coast, and now was the perfect opportunity to explore the city with Krissa, a veteran of San Francisco. What followed was a spontaneous day full of travel, sightseeing, jokes, good conversations, and delicious food that ended with promises of a second date.

And the proposal story!

When he wants to, Nadav can be exceptionally clever. The decision of spending the rest of his life with Krissa was easy, but how to pop the question, now that was the tricky bit. It had to be special. It had to be intimate. And most importantly, it had to be a surprise.

Timing was important. Nadav couldn’t simply suggest to Krissa about traveling to somewhere romantic, as this would obviously tip her off to his intentions. Instead, he waited for HER to suggest a destination, in this case, a week trip to Hawaii. While Krissa planned a general itinerary for their tropical vacation, Nadav began finalizing his grand scheme for a proposal.

The two landed in Honolulu and spent their first day enjoying the beaches, trying local cuisine, and shopping. Nadav even suggested to look at rings while in Hawaii for more inspiration, all the while a ring he purchased months ago was stored in his back pocket. Wanting to do some outdoor activity, Nadav asked Krissa if she’d enjoy a hike, a call-back to their second date together, pointing out that a nearby hiking trail climbed a dormant volcano.

In the morning, Krissa and Nadav enjoyed a light breakfast and purchased some Spam Musubi for lunch at the volcano. The climb was challenging. In addition to the dry heat and steep slopes, Nadav had foolishly gone to leg day two days before, and was still suffering from the intense fatigue. But the power of love strengthened him, pushing him to reach the peak. At the top, while Krissa admired the ocean view, Nadav fumbled in his pocket, found what he was looking for, and began the final steps in his plan. Words were shared, love was proclaimed, and at the end of it, a piece of jewelry was offered. Krissa said yes, the two took pictures to commemorate the moment, and the two climbed down the volcano, no longer as just a simple couple, but as betrothed.
