Travis and Caitlin have been friends for years and now are engaged and getting married next year at Hemlock Farm! We did their engagement session at a beautiful property in Tracy’s Landing before heading to a family farm that Travis works for. It was the perfect balance of nautical and rural! These two are adorable and so fun to work with.
Here is a little bit of their love story!
We met online, but grew up in the same area and even had some mutual friends. It was a Friday night and we had been talking a week or two. He was at a local bar and I happened to be at a friends right up the street. After some texts back and forth joking about me stopping by, I decided to actually do it. I hung outside the bar talking to a friend until some liquid courage kicked in and I walked inside to meet him. We had our first official date the week after. Since then he's always found ways to surprise me, whether it was a home cooked meal and dancing in the kitchen, or an air mattress set up in the living room for movie nights. It didn't take long to realize he was a keeper, and it's been the best adventure yet!
And the proposal!
He told me a few weeks in advance we were having dinner with his sister and brother-in-law. The plan was to go to this nice restaurant in Solomons Island, so I got dressed up and we left to meet them. We're barely a mile up the road and his mom calls asking us to stop at his family's beach cottage in Chesapeake Beach on the way. She said his dad had left a door open and a neighbor called them about it. I was a little confused (and annoyed), but we headed there.
As we pull up, he leaves the truck running and tells me he will be right back. He then calls me saying that his dad had left a mess and he needed help to clean up, so I should come out back. I get out and walk that way but don't see him in the back yard. I hear him yell from the stairs that go down to the beach. I make it to the top of the stairs and see him with down below, everything is decorated and he has a bottle of champagne. His brother's girlfriend was hiding and took pictures. It was 2 years to the day of our first date.
After the proposal he tells me that all of our close friends and family are on their way. He had been coordinating with everyone for weeks. We spent the night celebrating and it was absolutely perfect.
What a sweet story! Enjoy these images from Caitlin and Travis’s fall engagement session!
