The rain held off for Vanessa & Jonathan's bayside wedding at the Chesapeake Inn. Their outdoor ceremony overlooked the water as they vowed to be husband and wife! During the ceremony they each gave a rose to their mother and also had wine case ceremony. Vanessa & Jonathan each wrote notes to the other and sealed it in a box with a bottle of wine to be opened on their 10th wedding anniversary. I love this tradition because it puts a beautiful emphasis on marriage and years spent together!
Here is their proposal story:
Every year, Vanessa and Jonathan spend the Fourth of July week in New England, where Vanessa is originally from. Jonathan decided to propose on July 4th, one of Vanessa’s favorite holidays. It was an overcast morning on Cape Cod, with a hurricane rolling in. Jonathan was eager to propose before it started pouring. He knew the only way to get Vanessa to wake up early while on vacation…breakfast. Since they were a little early for their “reservation,” they took a detour to Chatham Lighthouse Beach. Jonathan suggested they go for a walk to pass some time. He was quick to avoid the news cameras filming the bad weather approaching. After a short time of walking, Vanessa suggested they return to the car since it was a little chilly. To her surprise, Jonathan got down on one knee and said “My favorite Cape Cod memory is when I ask you to be my wife, will you marry me?” To which she responded, “Is this really happening right now?!? Yes of course!” They returned to the car, on cloud 9, when Jonathan gave the bad news that there was no breakfast reservation. However, to her surprise, when they returned to Vanessa’s dad’s house they were greeted by close friends and family that traveled near and far for a backyard barbecue and a day full of celebrating!
Their love for wine inspired the classy cork decor throughout the reception. It was a wonderful day! Congrats Vanessa & Jonathan!!
What an amazing day! Congrats again!
